Trustpilot

Baby water is an especially low-mineral water for preparing bottles and baby food. It comes in handy whenever you're not sure about the tap water: when travelling, when you're out and about, or in a house with old pipes.

How can you tell which water is good for baby food?

Not every mineral water is suitable for babies. Look for the words 'suitable for the preparation of infant food' on the label and choose still water rather than sparkling. It's also worth comparing the sodium and nitrate levels.

Bébés des Alpes®: baby water from the Alps

Bébés des Alpes® mineral water for babies is low in minerals and sodium and suitable for baby bottles from birth. The 500 ml bottles fit easily in your changing bag, and breastfeeding mums can drink the water too.

For night feeds, it's worth taking a look at the night station: it lets you prepare bottles at night without waiting for the water to cool.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to boil baby water?

That depends on the information on the label and on the packaging of your formula. Many formula manufacturers recommend boiling the water before mixing and letting it cool. Follow these instructions, and if you're unsure, ask your paediatrician or midwife.

Which water is suitable for formula?

Fresh, good-quality tap water or a still mineral water labelled 'suitable for the preparation of infant food'. It should be low in sodium and nitrate. The amount of water, the temperature and whether you need to boil it are all given on your formula packaging.

Tap water or mineral water for the bottle?

Good-quality tap water is generally fine for bottles. Let it run until it comes out of the tap cold. If you have old lead pipes or your own well, or when you're travelling, a suitable mineral water is the safer choice. Your water supplier and your paediatrician can advise you.

How long does mineral water for babies keep once opened?

Go by the information on the label. Close the bottle tightly after opening, store it somewhere cool and use it up quickly. Don't drink straight from the bottle you use for your baby's food, so that no germs get in.
